Don’t give me hearts or scarlet blooms
No
Hallmark cards or lovers’ tunes
But
kiss my cheek and hold my hand
Or
trace my name upon the sand
Don’t buy me chocolates, silk or rings
I do
not need expensive things
But
wash my hair and rub my feet
Or
make me pancakes as a treat
Don’t feel the need to dress up fine
And
take me out to wine and dine
But
light a flame and plant a tree
Or
write a tissue poem for me
