The End (This Time)

This time, my love, we have come to an end

No rivers to cross, no bridges to mend

No daring escape, no final reprieve

This time, my love, I must turn round and leave

We were good together most of the time

When we found our rhythm and spoke our rhyme

But too many doubts have clouded the sky

And now it is time to say our goodbye

This time, my love, there’s no ever after

No sunshine kisses or moonlit laughter

No battles to fight or forts to defend

This time, my love, I must leave as a friend
