The Candle That Burns

As we walk the path of life, at times it is hard

To keep ourselves from losing hope and remember who we are

But there's a light in our hearts and we never walk alone

The candle that burns guides us through the great unknown

We listen to the daily news of hunger, war and strife

We wonder what it's leading to, is this all there is to life?

But then from deep down within, there's a flicker of light

The candle that burns is the love which makes things right

So be brave and be bold, hold your head up high

Shine your light, don't ever give up, those who succeed are those who try

And then your life can be a light to help others along the way

The candle that burns is the promise of dawning day

The candle that burns is the spirit within

Let it burn day and night, do not let it grow dim

Do not hide it away, let its beauty shine through

The candle that burns is the best in me and you
