Power-Suit

There was a time when I ruled the universe

In my batman mask and superman cape

Changing the fate of nations and planets

Limited only by the power of imagination

Now it is I who am ruled by the world

In my manager mask and tailor-made suit

Changing nothing that amounts to much

Limited only by the power of conformity

I remember a time when I ran barefoot free

In my scruffy shorts and worn-out shirt

Eager to play and curious to discover

Living for the moment and judging by the heart

Now I walk the narrow corridors of power

In my leather shoes and silken tie

Eager to win and driven to dominate

Living for the future and judging by the past

And yet, inside, I am no different than before

I am still that boy, running wild and living free

Ever-ready for fun and poised to change destiny

There’s more to this power-suit than meets the eye!
