9/11: Voyeurs Of Terror

The first news strikes like lightening -

Blasting the tranquil skies of a humdrum day

Blinding the startled vision of an unbelieving world

Blanching the numbed mind of a fragile civil sanity

The reports start to trickle in, icy cold -

Aeroplane Collides with Trade Centre in New York City

Second Tower Hit In Suspected Terror Attack

Pentagon In flames As Third Suicide Mission Strikes

The dam of information breaks, overwhelming -

Towers Collapse, Thousands Killed, Chaos Erupts

Fourth Plane Down Over Uninhabited Area

America, The World, Switches To Red Alert!

Waves of aftershock follow the earthquake events -

Geopolitical elders face a new landscape of canyons and bridges

Religious tribes find no refuge in caves of peace and love

Economic prophets shudder as runaway cracks appear in money and markets

We watch with guilty anticipation

As the world declares war

On its shadow
